The Specialized Sirrus is a very popular bike and for good reason. Whether you are looking for a great commuter bike, going to do a charity ride, or just want to ride the trails and get exercise, the Sirrus does it all! Now, Specialized has updated this family and given it a fresh label!Let's start with the individual model labels. For many years we have had the Sirrus, Sirrus Sport, Sirrus Elite, Sirrus Comp, Sirrus Expert, and the Sirrus Pro. Sometimes you would even see two of each level, one alloy, and one carbon fiber. It was confusing if you didn't know all of the specifics.
Now, Specialized has simplified the lineup tremendously by labeling the Sirrus models in a much more straightforward way. With numbers! Starting with Sirrus 1.0 and going up to Sirrus 6.0, as the numbers get bigger, the bike gets more advanced!
As Specialized put's it, “You've got places to go, people to see, and fitness goals to achieve,” and the Specialized Sirrus is just the tool to get you there. While most at home on pavement, Sirrus features wheels and tires that aren't afraid of a little gravel or crushed limestone too. When you ride the Sirrus, you will be in a position that is both comfortable but also efficient. This neutral body position paired with BodyGeometry touchpoints (saddle and grips) gives riders an amazingly comfortable experience while tackling their fitness goals!
SIRRUS 1.0
Sirrus 1.0is where the Sirrus lineup starts. An aluminum frame and steel fork paired with rim brakes let Specialized offer the entry Sirrus to customers for well under $500! But this doesn't skimp on quality! The Sirrus 1.0 features a Shimano drivetrain and an A1 aluminum alloy frame with clean internal cable routing that is over a pound lighter than the previous version of Sirrus! Add in a full rack and fender mounts and a couple of places to mount your water bottles or other accessory carriers, and the Sirrus 1.0 is a great place to start!
SIRRUS 2.0
Stepping up one level is Sirrus 2.0. The Sirrus 2.0 has that same A1 Aluminum frame and steel fork, but for the 2.0, you get flat-mounted hydraulic disc brakes! These brakes are going to improve your stopping confidence and braking feel. The drivetrain gets an upgrade as well to the Acera rear derailleur, which will improve your shifting performance.
SIRRUS 3.0
When you go up to the Sirrus 3.0, you see some significant improvements that all riders can appreciate! The Sirrus 3.0 features the same A1 Aluminum as the previous models with the huge addition of a carbon fiber fork! When you ride a bike with a carbon fiber fork, you will immediately notice an improvement in ride quality (the bike will ride smoother) and a noticeable reduction in weight. This carbon fiber fork alone saves nearly 3 pounds over the Sirrus 2.0! These improvements are magnified by the step up to a combination Shimano Sora and MicroShift flat bar road drivetrain. The MicroShift shifters and Shimano derailleurs will give you a much more intuitive and precise shifting experience over the other models!
SIRRUS 4.0
Next up is the Sirrus 4.0 and, by golly, is this a beautiful bike! The parts of the Sirrus 4.0 (shifters, derailleurs, brakes, etc.) are the same as the Sirrus 3.0. BUT! The frame is entirely different! The Sirrus 4.0 features a FACT 9r Carbon Fiber, internally routed frame! What does this frame do for you as the rider? Well, first off, it drops the weight by approximately 1.4 pounds over the Sirrus 3.0! That's awesome, and all but the vast difference is in the ride quality! Carbon fiber is a noticeably smoother ride over aluminum alloy, and you will notice a considerable improvement with the carbon frame. Test ride the two bikes back to back and see for yourself!
SIRRUS 6.0
At the top of the heap is the Sirrus 6.0! The Sirrus is also a FACT 9r Carbon Fiber frame with an upgraded drivetrain over the 4.0. The Sirrus 6.0 features a combination of MicroShift and Shimano 105 flat bar road drivetrain! This drivetrain will increase the precision of the shifts and drop a bit of weight. And finally, the Sirrus 6.0 features the fantastic FutureShock! This amazing piece of technology will take the smooth ride that the carbon fiber frame and fork already deliver and magnify it to 11! Not only is the ride smoother, but with the front tire always in contact with the ground, the Future Shock equipped Sirrus 6.0 will also deliver better, more stable, and more confident handling!
AND… MEET SIRRUS' COUSIN – THE SIRRUS X!
The Specialized Sirrus X shares the name Sirrus with its flat bar cousin, the Sirrus, but while the Sirrus is most at home on the pavement, the Sirrus X is built to take anywhere you want to go!
